|2005-10-22 - First Argo float and a new MBARI6 drifter deployed|
On 22 October 2005 at ~18:00 hrs GMT, we have successfully deployed from the US R/V Knorr the first OMZ ARGO float and the MBARI6 drifter at 16º 16.78' S; 75º 36.48' W off Peru. See latest profile HERE.

|2008-04-18 - Four new Apex floats deployed|
We have recently deployed four new Apex floats with Optode oxygen sensors off Iquique (~21°S). The total number of floats deployed in the OMZ within our project is now ten.

The first cruise of Agouron-OMZ Project called MOOMZ-1, was held North of Chile between June, 12 and 23, 2008. Researchers from different Institutes and Universities worked on microbial oceanography of the oxygen minimum zone on board of R/V AGOR Vidal Gormaz. A joint discussion meeting between MI_LOCO and AGOURON-OMZ Projects was held at Corvaliis, Oregon on March 1-5, 2010. Researchers from a number of Institutions participated in a open forum to discuss ultimate results and future research in the Oxygen Minimum Zone.
|2010-05-24 - Sea-glider deployment:|
At the end of April, 2010, the sea-glider from OSU was deployed in front off Iquique. Justin Brodersen was in charge of this activity and supported by profesor Ruben Moraga from UNAP. The sea-glider will be at sea for about 4-5 months.
